The sketchbook has always been an important part of my process. It is a free place to work out ideas, draft inventions, make mistakes, follow whims. Over the years, these books have become my visual diary. I include these excerpts because they reveal a more personal way of thinking that more "finished" works don't. And I have always loved looking at other artists sketchbooks.
